Diagnostic Medical Sonography Career
Diagnostic medical sonography (ultrasound) is an important medical service that allows clinicians to “see” inside the body. Providing this service are ultrasound technicians, who use special equipment to direct high-frequency sound waves toward the body so they can visualize internal organs, monitor pregnancies, and perform other medical functions.
Many sonographers will specialize in specific areas of the body and can work in a range of settings, including hospitals, clinics, doctors’ offices and community health centers.
Sonographers and ultrasound technicians earn around $66,210 to $103,400 in Montana, and the job market in this field is expected to grow much faster than average.
