Assistant/Associate Professor - IMSE (Industrial & Management Systems Engineering)
- The Department of Mechanical & Industrial Engineering at Montana State University invites applications for 2 full-time tenure track positions. Primary responsibilities are in teaching, research, and service/outreach. 1 position each in Mechanical Engineering (ME) and Industrial & Management Systems Engineering (IMSE). The successful candidate will become an integral part of the department. Duties will include teaching courses in ME or IMSE, developing a nationally recognized, externally funded research program, working on curriculum development, and participating in professional/service activities.
- Because increasing the diversity of the engineering profession is one of our strategic priorities, women and underrepresented minorities in engineering are particularly encouraged to apply. We hope to attract applicants who can teach in a diverse University community and have demonstrated ability in helping students from diverse backgrounds succeed.
- The MIE department encourages applications from individuals who have had non-traditional career paths or who have achieved excellence in careers outside of academia (e.g. in professional, military, or industry service). The search committee is especially interested in candidates who, through their research, teaching, service, and experience, will contribute to the diversity and excellence of MSU’s community. We seek individuals who work professionally and effectively with diverse communities, possess effective interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, and have the ability to contribute positively to the academic success of the students and the mission of Montana State University.
- The new faculty member will be expected to contribute to excellence in both undergraduate and graduate teaching in the Mechanical & Industrial Engineering Department, develop a nationally recognized, externally funded scholarly program in an appropriate focus area, produce scholarly works and collaborate with MSU’s research centers and regional partners. Other responsibilities include advising and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students, participating in accreditation activities and committee assignments, and providing service to the University, State, and profession.
