Kopriva Programs
Science Seminar Series
The College of Letters & Science at Montana State University established the Kopriva Science Seminar Series Endowment in 1991 through a generous gift from Phil Kopriva, a 1957 graduate of MSU in biological sciences and chemistry. The endowment supports a lecture series in the general area of biomedical sciences, recognizing outstanding interdisciplinary research in complex biological systems or biomedical science.
Each year, outstanding external biomedical researchers, the recipients of the Kopriva Graduate Student Fellowship and the recipient of the Faculty Lectureship give Science Seminar Series lectures.
Graduate Student Fellowship
Each year, the Kopriva fund makes a fellowship award of up to $5000 to outstanding graduate students. The award is intended to enhance the student’s research thesis, including travel to meetings or for instruction, books, supplies and special research services.
Faculty Lectureship
Lecturers at MSU are selected based on the excellence and interdisciplinary impact of their research and the breadth of general interest in that research. In addition, because the lectures are open to the entire campus community and the general public, substantial consideration is given to the selection of lecturers that are excellent communicators as well as excellent scientists.
