CFE Advisory Committee
The Advisory Committee provides feedback on the Center’s work and ensures that it remains guided by faculty interests and goals so that MSU’s faculty are empowered to advance the human prospect by addressing the world’s greatest challenges. In doing so, the faculty are globally recognized for excellence in the education of students, creation of knowledge and art, and service to communities.
Structure
The reconstituted CFE Advisory Committee consists of subcommittees that serve the tasks of previous standing committees (TEACh - Teaching Excellence in Action Committee, Research Capacity Team and the Service-Learning Advisory Committee). The committee meets once each semester, and subcommittees will convene as needed to complete specific tasks. The CFE Advisory Committee has representation from each college and key stakeholders on campus, consisting of approximately 19 members distributed among three subcommittees: Teach, Research, and Service-Learning.
TEACHING AND LEARNING
The Teaching and LearningSubcommittee provides guidance to CFE leadership about programming and faculty needs. The Teach group will allocate funds for faculty development project (Instructional Innovation Grants) and participate in the President's Excellence in Teaching Award selection.
RESEARCH AND SCHOLARSHIP
The Research and Scholarship Subcommittee will assist the CFE with programming on grant development and management, partnering with faculty for grant writing mentoring, and offering other initiatives that support faculty success in research and scholarship. The Research Capacity group will allocate funds for the Faculty Excellence Grants.
SERVICE AND OUTREACH
The Service and Outreach Subcommittee promotes faculty awareness and application of service-learning pedagogy and partnerships. Working with Montana Campus Compact, MSU's Office of Student Engagement, and MSU's Outreach and Engagement Council and others, this subcommittee strives to create a network of scholars and community partners to grow community-engaged learning curricula and impacts. This subcommittee will participate in the President's Excellence in Service-Learning Award selection.
