Pack the Place in Pink
MSU fans encouraged to “Pack the Place in Pink” for Sept. 21 football game.
Montana State will continue its annual “Pack the Place in Pink” tradition to promote breast cancer awareness on Sept. 21 at the Bobcats’ home football game.
Fans are invited to purchase limited edition apparel to wear during the game against Mercyhurst. The items for purchase include a pink T-shirt and two styles of baseball hats that feature a special Pack the Place in Pink Bobcat logo. All items will retail for $25.
Participating retailers will donate a portion of proceeds to Pack the Place in Pink, a Billings-based nonprofit that supports breast cancer patients in Montana by providing financial assistance. The organization was founded in 2007 by Vicki Heebner Carle, an MSU alumna and retired teacher. Carle, who has twice survived breast cancer, played basketball for MSU in the 1980s and was inducted into the Bobcat Hall of Fame in 1996.
Carle said Pack the Place in Pink began in Billings Skyview High School’s volleyball program, where she was a coach, and has since spread statewide because of loyal partners such as MSU. The charity has given over $970,000 to 950 Montana breast cancer patients, and Carle said the need for financial assistance increases each year.
“As we reach an incredible milestone in giving, the achievement is a stark reminder of the number of Montanans battling breast cancer,” said Carle. “We continue to work hard to generate funds for breast cancer warriors. Partnering with the Bobcats has given us a huge boost as they provide fundraising opportunities for us, as well as offer several different venues to generate funds and share our mission.”
Pack the Place in Pink Bobcat merchandise is available at the MSU Bookstore in the Strand Union Building, at Bobcat Stadium and online at msubookstore.org. It will also be sold at Universal Athletic locations in Bozeman, Billings, Butte, Great Falls, Helena, Kalispell and online at shop.msubobcats.com.
Montana State announces partnership with Wrangler for new apparel line
Montana State University is partnering with another iconic western brand for a new apparel line.
Wrangler, most known for its jeans and western wear, is producing a line of MSU-branded clothing, including shirts, hats and T-shirts. The new line will be available exclusively at the MSU Bookstore.
Wrangler worked in collaboration with Colosseum Athletics, a leader in collegiate manufacturing and the Collegiate Licensing Company, CLC, to design and produce the collection.
“Montana State is proud to partner with Wrangler, Colosseum Athletics and the MSU Bookstore to bring the officially licensed Bobcat Wrangler Collegiate Collection to life for our students, alumni and fans,” said Amy Kanuch, licensing and community relations manager at MSU. “Montana State celebrates our roots in western heritage and is excited to offer a fun new collection that showcases our Bobcat brand with the iconic Wrangler brand.”
The collegiate collection launched a year ago with schools in the South. MSU will now be a featured university in the second year of the collection.
The collaboration with Wrangler comes two years after MSU launched a line of clothing with another iconic western brand, the fishing company Simms, to produce shirts and hats with the trademarked MSU brand, Trout U, which are also available in the MSU Bookstore.

The Tradition Continues...
Gold Rush Huckleberry Lemonade
Montana State University and Harrington Pepsi continue the distribution of the beverage designed for Bobcat students, alumni and fans.
Gold Rush Huckleberry Lemonade was launchesd in tandem with the 2019 MSU Gold Rush football game.
The lemonade is available on soda fountains across the MSU campus and in Bobcat Stadium. It is also bottled and available in retail stores, including Town Pump and ThriftWay. It is also distributed in retail outlets in Yellowstone National Park.
“Our longtime partnership with Montana State keeps getting better,” said Jim Bennett, vice president of Harrington Pepsi. “This new beverage combines two great Montana traditions — the Bobcat Gold Rush game and wild huckleberries. We’re thrilled that we’ve achieved our goal to create a unique beverage that keeps the Gold Rush spirit alive all year long.”
In the spring ot 2019, MSU students taste-tested several flavor options. The top two flavors were sampled on fountain machines in the university’s dining halls to see which proved more popular. More diners chose huckleberry lemonade with their meals.
“Thanks to Harrington Pepsi, we were able to customize a flavor for our fan base,” said Julie Kipfer, MSU director of marketing. “We couldn’t have done this without our students, who selected the flavor. Now students, alumni and fans can experience the Gold Rush every day.”
Now Montana State University and Bobcat fans can fly in style.
MSU is one of the newest additions to Horizon Air’s fleet of aircrafts that are university-themed. The MSU plane is painted in blue and gold and displays the bobcat head mark on the tail, the collegiate “M” at the back of the plane, Go Cats text on the wings, and the university logo near the front of the plane.
“This is certainly one of our biggest promotional opportunities to date,” said Julie Kipfer, director of marketing and creative services at Montana State University. “We are excited to increase our exposure and visibility in the Northwest region where many of our students, alumni and fans live and travel.”
The first flight of the freshly painted Q400 Turboprop will be from Seattle to Bozeman on November 30, 2010. After that, the plane will travel on all Horizon routes and may be seen all over the Northwest region.
