What is it?

Email Star is an easy-to-use HTML email authoring tool.  It allows you to create professional HTML emails with the branding of your college, unit or program without needing to know HTML. 

Note:  If your email list will target MSU alumni, you must first request and receive approval from the MSU Alumni Foundation - begin your request here using the List Request system.

How do I get access to Email Star?

If you are a member of a Department, your College Communications Associate can utilize Email Star to send your communication - contact them directly.

If you are a College Communications Associate, please follow these steps:

  • Find a convenient Open Support Session to attend.  With Open Support, we invite members of the MSU campus to visit us at our offices and get in-person help with any of our Web tools.
  • Once you know when you'll attend, submit a support ticket and let us know when you are coming, and that you are interested in Email Star training.  We will ensure your account is properly set up and configured before you arrive. 
    • Feel free to bring a group of colleagues along; just let us know the names, netIds and email addresses of those who'll be attending
  • Training takes about 30 minutes, depending on your comfort with web applications

 

How do I send the emails?

If you email involves alumni, the list will be created and approved by the MSU Alumni Foundation.  Once this is complete, you will provide your email to the MSUAF for distribution through their enterprise email system.

If your email is internal (to a group of faculty / staff within MSU), you can send your email out directly from your MS Outlook account.  UIT can construct and provide various listservs - more information on UIT listservs is available here.
