VII. Informational Items
A. Student Memorial Project
Ambika Murali, ASMSU Senator
Allison Reinhardt, ASMSU Senator
Rachel Schmidt, ASMSU Senator
Kacie Cummings, ASMSU Senator
Amelia Fountain, ASMSU Senator
Each student introduced herself and shared a bit of a background as to how she is working on this project. Photos were shared of the current memorial for students, followed by a photo of the proposed landscaping and upgrades to make it a “meaningful public space.” The vision is to provide a thoughtful retreat for students who have experienced loss, as well as hold campus events here, given the highly trafficked area. The new memorial could create the opportunity to showcase student art, while better memorializing our Bobcats. There will be an underlying theme of health and wellness, given that 24% of student deaths come from suicide. The students are currently raising funds for this project.
B. Know Your MSU: Nursing Counts for Montana Dr. Sally Moyce, Assistant Professor, College of Nursing
Dr. Moyce shared valuable information regarding the upcoming census and how our nursing program is helping with collecting data. This includes reaching out to all demographics, especially in rural Montana.
