Prerequisites

  1. You need to be connected to MSU Secure Wifi, the MSU wired network, or  the MSU VPN Client.
    1. Use your netID credentials to login to these. If you are already on the MSU Secure Wifi, you do not need to explicitly connect to the VPN.

Common Issues

  1. VPN Access Denied
    1. If you have never accessed the VPN before, follow the instruction on VPN Access.
    2. If you have already been granted VPN access but are still having issues, contact helpdesk@montana.edu.

Acessing Tempest

  1. Connect to Tempest at https://tempest-web.msu.montana.edu
  2. Log in with netID credentials 

Common Issues

  1. If you try to login and receive the following error, you are most likely trying to login with an account other than your netID (format a11a111).

Error while logging in to Tempest

    1. Try logging in using your netID.
    2. If you do not see an option to do this
      1. Clear the cache of your browser
      2. Use a different browser or new InPrivate window / incognito window

Using Tempest

Once you are logged into Tempest, you can use the interactive apps. Instructions for these can be found at Interactive Jupyter Instructions or Interactive RStudio Instructions

You may also submit jobs using the Job Composer, following  submitting job using Job Composer Instructions or use Terminal Instructions to access Tempest from the terminal.
