Fight the New Drug: The Intersection of Pornography, Addiction and Human Trafficking
Tuesday, February 7th, 2023 @ 6:30-8:00 p.m. (Inspiration Hall, NAH)
The HEART Initiative at MSU, MSU Women's Center, Office of the Dean of Students, Norm
Asbjornson College of Engineering, and MSU VOICE Center along with a local anti-exploitation,
anti-trafficking awareness group- Let's Ignite Fearless Triumph- will host this event
presented by Fight the New Drug. The "new drug" refers to pornography, and how it
relates to and directly feeds into human trafficking.
Fight the New Drug is a non-religious, non-legislative organization that exists to
provide individuals the opportunity to make informed decisions regarding pornography
by raising awareness of the effects on people's brains, interpersonal relationships
and communities using scientific research, facts and personal accounts. Fight the
New Drug is not anti-sex; rather they strive to raise awareness about how pornography
can lead to discrimination, exploitation and Human Trafficking.
This presentation will be informative, fun and interactive and discuss the ways in
which pornography impacts: the workings of our brains, our mental health, love and
intimacy, physical relationships and satisfaction, racial and sexual discrimination,
and the objectification of minors.
