American Indian Heritage Day, also known as Native American Heritage Day, annually recognizes the rich cultural heritage, history and vital contributions of American Indians on the fourth Friday in September of each year, as designated by the 1997 Montana Legislature. 

Montana State University holds an annual event that pays attribute to the cultural legacy and societal contributions of Native American people in Montana and the United States.
