Employee Injury Reporting
Timely reporting of workplace injuries is critical to ensuring Workers’ Compensation benefits for the injured employee, as well as for follow-up investigation and review of means and methods to reduce or eliminate the chance of injury recurrence.
We want you to report all workplace injuries including minor injuries whether or not you seek professional medical treatment.

Steps for Reporting Work-Related Injuries and Occupational Diseases
- Notify your supervisor as soon as possible, AND
- Compete the on-line First Report of Injury.
Work-Related Injury: An injury that happens while performing the course and scope of your job duties.
Occupational Disease: A disease caused by work or working conditions, such as carpel tunnel syndrome (a repetitive motion injury).
Deadlines for Reporting Injury and Occupational Diseases
Injuries must be reported as soon as possible, but in no case over 30 days from the date of injury (MCA 39-71-603 (1). Your claim may be denied if you do not report work-related injuries to your supervisor within 30 days.
Occupational diseases must be reported within one year from the date you knew, or should have known your symptoms resulted from work related conditions. An occupational disease is one caused by work or working conditions, such as an ergonomic repetitive motion disorder, carpel tunnel disease.
