Description of Request

Currently, the UIT team serving the Mark & Robyn Jones College of Nursing occupies two offices located on the fourth floor of Reid Hall, rooms 429 and 434. Their activities include receiving deliveries of all computers and tech-related equipment for the college and disbursing them as needed, and due to this excess equipment, they have outgrown those two office spaces. Additionally, the elevator in Reid Hall is out-of-service, which makes deliveries of said equipment to the fourth floor difficult. The college utilizes a small instructional space in Sherrick Hall 001B, that is not ADA accessible due to its location in the basement and is currently underutilized. The space does not have any formal sections scheduled through the Registrar’s office and is used in an ad hoc fashion. Any instructional activities that take place in room 001B will be moved into the lab in Sherrick 220. After consulting with the Office of the Registrar, they have expressed their support for a change-in-use of the space. Therefore, it is proposed that this space be repurposed for use as office space by the UIT team to accommodate two staff members, as well as additional staging space for equipment. This will result in available space on the fourth floor of Reid.

 

Furthermore, the College of Nursing (CoN) is continuing to grow and are at capacity within their existing footprint of available office space and have requested additional space to accommodate a new Student Success Manager, Academic Programs and Recruitment Coordinator, Grants Office Program/Project Lead, and NTT faculty. Once the UIT staff relocate out of Reid 429 and 434, staff proposes that these spaces be maintained by CoN and reassigned to various non-tenure track and tenure track faculty and staff. This space fits nicely into the existing block of offices that Nursing occupies from Reid 429-436. Additionally, room 428 is vacant and available for use, and therefore staff proposes the additional allocation of this office.

Space Management Committee has approved the change-in-use of Sherrick 001B from classroom to office for use by UIT personnel, and approved the backfill of UIT offices in Reid Hall by Nursing faculty and staff, as well as the additional allocation of Reid 428.
