Accreditation Team Relocation: Montana Hall
Description of Request
Submitted By: Steve Swinford
The Office of Academic Affairs (OAA) has actively begun planning for the 2024 Northwest Commission for Colleges and Universities on-site accreditation visit and review in October of 2024. In the past, this effort has necessitated dedicated space to collaborate and conduct meetings, collect artifacts, compile paperwork and locate individuals working on the reports in close proximity to one another. Currently, the accreditation team, comprised of the Assistant Provost and Accreditation Writer, are located on the fourth floor of Culbertson Hall, space that was allocated by the Space Management Committee in November 2022.The Center for Faculty Excellence (CFE) will be moving out of Montana Hall rooms 114 and 116 in August of 2023, and into the third floor of the library. Therefore, the Office of Academic Affairs has requested this space to better facilitate their ongoing efforts to support accreditation and assessment activities. In addition, the Office of Academic Affairs conducts the ongoing process of program, unit, department, school and college assessments. This is a continuous process throughout the year regardless of accreditation review and visits.
The space in Montana Hall would be utilized as follows:
• Room 114: Permanent joint office space for Assistant Provost and Accreditation Writer.
• Room 116: Accreditation workspace for committees and teams leading up to the review; NWCCU Accreditation teamwork area as well as meeting space for visit requirements
• OAA would fund any facilities work to include cleaning, painting, and updated electrical work (Currently room 116 has only one available electrical outlet). In addition, any furniture needs would be managed and funded by OAA.
If ADA accommodations are necessary, the group plans to utilize either the President’s Conference Room in the basement of Montana Hall, and/or the conference room located within the Administration & Finance office on the 2nd floor, which are both accessible by elevator. This allocation is ideal, as it will bring the OAA back into a centralized academic building on campus, and in close proximity to the Office of the Provost located on the second floor of Montana Hall.
Resolution
