Molecular & Cell Biology-Molecular Bioscience Building Lab Allocations
Description of Request
Submitted By: Jovanka Voyich, Dept. Head of Microbiology & Cell Biology
The Microbiology & Cell Biology department is requesting available lab space on the first floor of the MBB building due to the aggressively growing biomedical research enterprise and recent increased grants received by researchers within the department. The following space proposals are being requested:
• Seth Walk to proceed with originally allocated space (MBB 159, 160, 162, 163)
• Diane Bimczok (MBB 153, 154, 155)
• Frank Stewart (MBB 156, 157, 158)
• Shared Support Areas: (MBB 165, 169, 170)
• Alyssa Evans (Cooley 227, 325)
• New Hire: (Cooley 219, 415)
By moving senior Microbiology faculty into MBB, the department can create space on central campus for welcoming incoming new hires, as well as allow for expansion in the shared lab space in Health Sciences Building (HSB) 255. Frank Stewart’s lab in Leon Johnson 621/621A will be held for incoming Ecology hire and Cooley 315 will be utilized by Microbiology & Cell Biology to accommodate growth within the department. The improvements that are needed in the space will be prioritized as part of overall MBB improvements by Facilities prior to occupation.
