College of Letters & Science IT Support Team: Wilson 2-211
Description of Request
Submitted By: Michelle Miley, Associate Dean, College of Letters & Science
The College of Letters & Science (CLS) IT Support team is currently located in Wilson 2-205D, E, and F within the Dean’s Office suite. They are experiencing growth and currently lack adequate space to stage and work on equipment, and have been unable to hire additional staff/student workers to help manage the workload and support functions for the college. The team currently has 3 full-time staff members and anticipates hiring 2 student assistants. Fiscal Shared Services recently vacated the space in Wilson 2-211, which is immediately adjacent to the Dean’s Office suite. This space would be ideal for the IT Support team, as it would keep them centralized within the college, would provide the additional square footage needed to expand, and would provide an entry point outside of the Dean’s Office. The college purchased the existing furniture configurations, which will be re-purposed by the IT support team. Any additional furniture or improvements to the space, such as a keypad, will be funded by UIT.
Additionally, CLS is requesting renovations within 2-205D and 2-205E, which would include removing interior walls to create an open meeting space/small conference room. A plant fund has been established to cover the costs of these modifications. Room 2-205F will be maintained and used as shared hoteling space or small private meeting space, which can be utilized by the IT staff as needed. No competing requests have been submitted for the space at this time.
