Science & Math Resource Center (SMRC)/EHHD Office Swaps
Description of Request
Submitted By: Julia Tietz; Education, Health & Human Development
The Troops to Teachers program is vacating their suite of offices on the 4th floor of Reid Hall (rooms 408, 409 and 412), and EHHD has requested to move the Science and Math Resource Center (SMRC) from Reid 441, 442, 443 and 444 into the vacated suite. SMRC is a very collaborative center and would benefit from having a suite of offices to plan their projects (Science Olympiad, interdisciplinary programs that integrate STEM fields and appropriate educational pedagogy for faculty, local communities, and K-12 school systems etc.). Currently, they have multiple offices that are small and not conducive to group meetings and collaborations. Although a smaller footprint, the layout of Reid 408-412 would offer an ideal space to meet and coordinate their events.
The Reid offices vacated by SMRC (442 and 443) would then be available to be used by incoming Education and Health and Human Development employees and/or graduate students.
EHHD also proposes to relocate a faculty member from their office is Reid 309, to the vacated office in room 441 (previously used by SMRC). As a result, the LIFE Scholars program can expand their current footprint (Reid 310, 311) to include Reid 309. LIFE Scholars prefers the 3rd floor location due to proximity to the TRIO program, which is a collaborator.
These moves will create an office vacancy in Reid 444, to be allocated by Space Management Committee in the future.

Space Management Committee has approved the office swaps and new space allocations as described above.
