DIS Applicant Checklist
Applying:
- Meet with a member of the DIS Oversight Board, DIS Director, Honors Advisor, current DIS student or Honors College Dean to ask questions, clarify misconceptions, and decide if the DIS is the right choice for you
- Create, design, or brainstorm ideas for one or more killer ideas for an interdisciplinary project
- Decide on the three disciplines needed to accomplish your project
- Find mentors within your areas of interest
- Request letters of recommendation (two required)
- Find three faculty advisors, one for each discipline
- Meet with your faculty advisors jointly, so they can review and help you refine your project and course plan (Honors can help schedule and find available meeting room)
- Finalize all parts of the application:
- Application
- Project Proposal
- Faculty Advisor Committee
- Course Plan
- Funding (not required, but helpful)
- Submit application to the Honors College via email at honors@montana.edu
After Acceptance:
- Sign DIS Contract
- Change major with Registrar: https://www.montana.edu/registrar/curriculum_catalogchange.html
- Join professional society(ies) associated with discipline(s)
- Begin DIS Project
- Apply for funding
- Start attending bi-weekly DIS meetings
- Stay in contact with your Faculty Advisory Committee and the DIS Director
