Leadership Project

Project Description 

Leadership is an active process, a set of knowledge, attitudes and skills in working with others toward a common goal. Leadership is an opportunity to develop leadership skills and give of yourself to help others. This project is designed to teach teens to be better leaders through educational experiences, service and practice. After enrolling in the Leadership project, you should cooperatively decide on an area of focus with your leader and county agent. You will develop an individualized learning and action plan for leadership development. You will organize the necessary resources, implement your leadership plan, evaluate your outcomes and make changes to improve it. You will truly "learn by doing" as you enhance your leadership competencies.

Teens will be learning what leadership is; how to set goals, priorities, and values; and leading by serving others. Teens are expected to identify a service project, create plan, and execute a plan to accomplish the project.

Equipment: pen/pencil; notebook

Attitude: willingness to participate.

Project books can be purchased here

*** Please note, if you do not attend at least one workshop in your project area during the 4-H year, you will be required to complete activities in your project book and turn it in with your record book. The number of activities required to complete a 4-H year in each project book can be found here.

Project age limit? 8 and up. Best suited for 13+ and 1+ years in 4-H

There are two levels: Learning to Lead and Leading to Learn. You would do best by spending at least two years in Learning to Lead before moving on to Leading to Learn
