Course: GEO 429R: Field Geology

Instructors: Dr. Madison Myers and Dr. Johan Erikson

Dates: May 12 - 30, 2025

 

Estimated Costs:

*Limited scholarships are available to Montana State University students. Information will be released on how to apply to all accepted applicants in early-mid March.

Prerequisities:

  • Earth History (GEO 211)
  • Mineralogy (GEO 302)
  • Igneous and Metamorphic Petrology or Sedimentary Petrology (Both preferred!!)
  • Sedimentation and Stratigraphy (GEO 309)
  • Structural Geology (GEO 315)
  • Field Methods (GEO 428)

Description: 

A senior capstone course for the geology and paleontology options. Summer field course with application of field procedures and mapping techniques to a variety of geologic problems and exercises. For the in-person course, extensive hiking and outdoor physical challenges require that students be willing to push themselves physically. A fee for supplies, transportation, and other logistical expenses is required.
