Example 3
One grandparent survives you.
Assume you pass away without a written will. You have a living paternal grandmother. She receives 1/2 of your assets.
The remaining 1/2 of your assets pass to your maternal grandparent's descendants by right of representation.
Right of representation means the descendants of your maternal grandparents inherit the share their immediate anscestor would have received if he or she had been living at the time of your passing.
If this is not the division you desire, then you need to write a will.
