Dear Students,
It’s hard to believe we’ve made it almost halfway through spring 2021. It has been a busy semester,
to be sure, but we wanted to take a moment to remind you of various university resources that are
here to support you and your fellow Bobcats.
Feeling stressed, overwhelmed? Counseling & Psychological Services in University Health Partners
offers everything from individual counseling to online tools to help. Don’t hesitate to reach out to
them for assistance. Learn more at montana.edu/counseling or call them at 994-4531.
Struggling with classes, finances, managing your time? There are great resources available to help
you through the Allen Yarnell Center for Student Success, the Math Learning Center, and
Physical health issues, sexual health, diet and nutrition questions? There are resources for students
for all of those issues and more through Medical Services and the Office of Health Advancement
in University Health Partners.
The university continues to offer students free symptomatic and asymptomatic COVID-19 testing.
No appointment is necessary for symptomatic testing. Asymptomatic testing can be scheduled here:
https://www.montana.edu/health/coronavirus/health-safety/testing/
In addition to its many offices supporting students, MSU also offers a number of safety-related
resources. MSU’s SAFE Cats app that connects students to police, reporting options, safety escorts,
and many other features and is available for Android and Apple devices. You can also report crimes
or incidents of concern by sending an email to Silent Witness at switness@montana.edu.
The MSU VOICE Center is a confidential office on campus that supports survivors of sexual assault,
harassment, domestic violence and stalking. Whether a survivor experienced recent violence, or in
the past, the VOICE Center can offer support and connect them to resources. Friends and family of
survivors are also welcome, as sexual violence impacts their health and well-being too.
The VOICE Center is available 24 hours a day, every day. The office accepts walk-ins at the SUB,
Room 370, as well as calls and texts on the 24-hour crisis line at 406-994-7069.
You can also schedule a meeting with an advocate in the VOICE Center.
MSU takes sexual misconduct very seriously. If you have witnessed an instance of sexual misconduct,
please report it to the Office of Institutional Equity. Reports can be made online at montana.edu/equity
or over the phone at 406-994-2042. If you are seeking a confidential place to speak about your
experience of sexual misconduct, please contact the VOICE Center.
Finally, all students with a cellphone listed with the university are automatically enrolled in MSU Alert.
The system provides emergency notifications and other alerts for serious crimes or dangerous situations
on campus via text message, email and phone calls.
If you have any questions about these or any other campus safety or support programs and services,
don’t hesitate to reach out to my office. On behalf of all of us at MSU, we are wishing you the very best.
Sincerely,
Matthew R. Caires
